Today is a Purple Day.

Earth Science students learned about soils this week. The students first researched soil horizons and then created one using various types of food. Next, students explored types of soils based on the particles in their soil sample. Soil samples were made with skittles, smarties and chocolate chips which simulated sand, silt and clay. Once students found the percentages of each particle in their sample, they used a Soil Texture triangle to determine their type of soil. Finally, students used a USDA Web Soil Survey to determine the type of soil at their house and then created a soil profile from their data.

Modified winter sports are starting soon! See below for start dates & times. Go Purple!
