Welcome back NCSD! Students were welcomed back into our 4 buildings today and now all are ready for an early bedtime tonight!
Day 1 - Drone Aviation.
New school year, brand new Drone Aviation course at the High School! Next week, weather permitting, we'll get a machine airborne for the students' first orientation experience! The sky's the limit!
Day 1 - Technology Classes.
High School Students jumped straight into their first 'Instant Design Challenge': manipulating a sheet of paper, with nothing more than brainpower and their hands, so they could get their whole body through it! Some winning designs and pretty good fun too! Great job, Techstars!

It was a beautiful day to welcome in the 22-23 school year. Students kicked off the festivities with words and song. We also recognized our Employee of the Year, Jim Mucha, and our Teacher of the Year, Maureen Jenks. We celebrate their resilience, persistence and commitment to NCSD. Go Purple!

FRIDAY - if you’d like to go over your audition or what auditions look like, stay after school til 4:00 for an optional audition workshop in MS room 2039
MONDAY or TUESDAY - be sure to sign up for an audition for either Monday or Tuesday. After school - 5:00. CHANGE - auditions will be held in the HS Auditorium (pickup will be from the front of the HS). If any students do not know how to navigate to the auditorium from the MS, plan to meet at the MS Purple Pole and walk as a group

" I will be teaching in the Biology department here at Norwich. I graduated from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2020 and began teaching in 2021. I spent one year teaching in Pennsylvania before coming to Norwich. Some hobbies of mine include soccer, golf, hiking, snowboarding.
I am looking forward to this year and many more at Norwich! "

Please help us in welcoming Jon Carey to the High School.
I will be teaching in the Special Education Department in the High School. I will also be teaching ELA classes as well as co-teaching US History.
I am a graduate of Oxford Academy School District. I attended LeMoyne College where I graduated with a degree in Psychology with a concentration in Special Education. I have taught Special Education for 19 years, most recently at Oxford Academy High School.
In my down time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters. I’m over 40 now so my hobbies are mowing my lawn and watching the NY Giants. My family and I love camping at NYS Parks and enjoy being in the woods. I am looking forward to starting the school year in Norwich.
Welcome would like to welcome Roma Matott the High School.
Here is a little bit about her.
"My homebase will be the High School library. However, I will be working with staff and students at all four buildings. It is a big job, but I am excited for the new year and all the challenges that come with it!
I grew up in Potsdam, New York. I have a several degrees: BA from St. Lawrence University (major in French, Spanish and German), a Masters in Library Science (major Children's and YA services) from the University of Pittsburgh, AS in Computer Science from Onondaga Community College, and a Masters in Teaching (elementary grades 1-6). I have been a librarian for over 25 years and have been working mostly in rural education settings for the past 10. Most recently at OHM BOCES School Library System, I created and lead professional development for teachers and librarians. In addition to becoming a member of the Norwich CSD community, I also work part-time for OPALS library automation system and Project Look Sharp, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting media literacy education in schools.
Interests? Have you got all day? I like painting fantasy and science fiction miniatures, playing board games and video games, woodworking, quilting, create objects with my 3-d printers and CNC machine, reading, gardening, sewing, Legos, walking my dogs and the list goes on and on."
