Good Morning,
Today is November 16, 2023. Today is a White Day.
Happy Thursday!
Congratulations to four of our Career and Technical Education students who were inducted into the CTE Honor Society on Wednesday. Michael Blenis, Hailee Blackman, Kathleen Bordonaro, and Caden Wallen were nominated and met all of the academic and service requirements for induction. During the ceremony, each inductee was recognized for their accomplishments. Michael Blenis is in the welding program, and among his other accomplishments, he has played for the Tornado on the gridiron and boasts the ability to squat 605 pounds and deadlift 545 pounds! Blenis plans to attend college to major in business or criminal justice. Hailey is in the Visual Communications program and has maintained a high honor roll program while growing her business, Hailey's Custom Designs, a business Hailey hopes to expand upon graduation. Kathleen is in the CNA program and is described as taking great pride in all she does, outgoing, and energetic. Kathleen plans to attend SUNY Broome for Health Sciences while pursuing her nursing career. Caden is enrolled in Culinary Arts. One of his proudest NCSD moments was representing the Tornado in the National Archery finals. Caden will enter the workforce in the area of culinary arts. He's also known for his delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe. Congratulations!

Have a great week!
Perry Browne is focused on extending gratitude in November as part of their Purposeful People curriculum, and one way they are demonstrating that is to extend gratitude to our veterans, with a parade. Thank you veterans!

The Perry Browne Courtyard Clean-up Crew worked hard to tidy up our beloved outdoor learning space. Despite the chilly temperatures, volunteers of all ages worked as a team to begin our courtyard transformation project. Thank you to all who helped get this project underway!
Please join NCSD in congratulating two of our educators who were selected for the NYS Master Teacher and Master Counseling program. Mrs. Jaclyn Lund, a Kindergarten teacher at Stanford Gibson, and Mrs. Elaina van der Sommen, a counselor at Norwich Middle School, join the ranks of 1,400 other educators in the program. The New York State Master Teacher Program is a vibrant professional network of K-12 STEM teachers throughout the state who share a passion for their own STEM learning and for collaborating with colleagues to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. In January 2022, the program was expanded to create a cohort of counselors and to encourage more teachers with CTE certificates related to STEM careers that are projected to be in high demand to apply. NYS Master Teachers and Counselors have a voice in their professional development - they co-create, co-facilitate, co-design, and choose the learning they will engage in. We are so proud of you, Jaclyn and Elaina, as you join several other 'masters' in our District!
Last Tuesday Ms. Cummings' class went to do a math rounding activity in Makerspace with Mrs. Chapman. Students used the robot Dash and a number line to round numbers to the nearest thousand, ten thousand, and hundred thousand.
During the week of October 16th, Mrs. Ryan's, Ms. Cummings,' and Mrs. Chapman's classes went to Makerspace for the first time. Mrs. McLachlan helped us learn how to properly use this space.
Kindergarten loved the Purposefull Parade! They were so excited to wear their costumes!
Second grade students compared clay structures and sand structures in science class. They discovered the clay structures were much stronger.
