Dear Tornado Community,
I am writing to let you know that I will soon be resigning from my position as principal of the Norwich Middle School. In my four years serving as both an Assistant Principal and Principal, this community, students, and all staff have been extremely supportive and made my time here special. I cannot express how grateful I am for the opportunities and learning this district has offered. My last day as the principal of Norwich Middle School will be on June 30, 2022.
This was not an easy decision but is one that I feel is best for my family. I will be transitioning to fill a similar role as I have been hired as a UPK-2 principal for Sidney Central Schools. This is not only best for my family but also the tornado community. Being active in the community is pivotal in this role and this continues to become difficult with my lengthy daily commute, as I desire a healthy balance with both my family and our students.
My position has yet to be filled, but I am confident the district will select a strong candidate. The district is currently seeking qualified candidates and anticipates filling this vacancy by August 1, 2022. Following their appointment, the Middle School will host a meet and greet, along with an orientation for incoming students as we have done in the past. Students will have the opportunity to find their locker, meet their teachers, and of course welcome the newly hired principal. In the meantime, we will continue the tradition of bussing our fifth-grade students to the Middle School for a brief visit on the morning of June 1st. I am confident that the district will select an individual who will push the school forward with its current initiatives aligned to the vision, mission, and core values of the community.
Working with the students, faculty, and community members at Norwich Middle School will be missed. I had the pleasure of watching a group of amazing students grow from their time in fourth grade to now being eighth graders and soon freshmen. I will certainly miss the daily interactions I have been fortunate to share with our outstanding faculty. Thank you again for the unwavering support and trust you have displayed during my stay. I wish you all the best and hope you can understand my decision.
Yours sincerely,
Sean Wood, Principal
Norwich Middle School
