Go Purple!

Norwich High School Daily Bulletin for January 4, 2023
Today is a Purple Day!

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Joanne Stafford on her acceptance into the New York State Master Teacher program. Mrs. Stafford is a longtime NCSD elementary educator who is now serving all of our students in her science classroom at Perry Browne. The NYS Master Teacher program is a multi-year rigorous program where statewide STEM participants engage in high levels of professional learning. Mrs. Stafford joins the ranks of 3 other NCSD Master Teachers. Congratulations, we appreciate you!

High School Technology:
The Project Lead The Way - Civil Engineering & Architecture (Construction Systems) Class spent December starting the 'Affordable Home' project. Students first learned about the fundamentals of home design, before focusing on affordable and efficient construction methods. They then worked together to complete 'client surveys' before using bubble diagrams and hand-drawn floor plans to lay out their Affordable Home designs. Continuing in January, students will complete their design in CAD software, learn how to include essential services (power, water, sewage etc), and also how to make drainage and wastewater runoff calculations to complete this project.

High School Technology:
The Project Lead The Way - Introduction to Engineering Design class rode into the Holidays completing a project on Product Improvement. Students were given a problem to re-design and build a prototype of a single packaging box for their client that could hold different combinations and sizes of muffins, cupcakes and tarts. Students worked in small teams and the project confirmed their teamwork and communication skills, as well as their competence in design and prototype building. Some excellent ideas and prototypes were produced!

High School Technology:
Final post with Draft & Design Classes project examples!

High School Technology:
Some more examples of the excellent projects completed by the Draft & Design classes.

High School Technology:
The Draft & Design classes spent 4 weeks working on a 'design and make' project before the Holidays. Many students made presents for family and friends, so no posts were made before the Holidays to ensure there were no spoilers!
Students were given some choices of what to design and make, including wooden cutting boards, jewelry or a 'maker's choice'. As part of this project, students also learned how to safely and responsibly operate essential shop tools and equipment. The students displayed some superb design and making skills. Congratulations, and I hope that family and friends who were lucky enough to receive a handmade gift, loved them?!

Today is a White Day!

We wanted to kick the New Year off right by reliving the AMAZING Middle School Concert, but alas it was on December 20th and the notification for the concert tonight was sent in error. Here are some pictures from the December 20th concert!! We look forward to all our spring musical events that will be upcoming. Next up is the High School Musical, Mama Mia, on March 10th and 11th!! Hope you see you at the shows!!

Norwich City Schools is pleased to announce that for the 2022-2023 school year, the district will continue to provide school meals (breakfast and lunch) to ALL students at no cost. This is made possible through the Federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). We do ask all families to complete the Eligibility Form linked below which is an essential tool that helps us to ensure the district continues to receive its fair share of state aid revenue.

Ms.Martin’s Class wishes you a Merry Christmas

To wrap up our month of learning about Christmas Around the World Miss Marks' class made paper lanterns after learning about how they celebrate the holidays in China!!

Mrs. Ryan's, Miss Cummings', and Mrs. Chapman's classes had fun with an edible snowman activity. Students had to use edible items, a die, and code to build and eat their snowman. Carson Burkholder from Miss Cummings' class was the first one to eat his snowman! Great job everyone!
