Staff professional learning Friday afternoon brought teams together to work on curriculum, instruction, and assessment. We are so proud for our staff that their professional learning team time is valuable to their practice and applaud all they do for our students!

Third graders are busy working on fact fluency! Congratulations to these fact masters from each homeroom. A special shout out to Gavin P. for earning 1st place in this challenge. 🎉

Good morning,
Today is March 28, 2025
Today is a White Day

4th graders at Perry Browne have been busy this quarter learning to write new music. The cooperative group project started in January with students writing (10) 2-measure rhythmic phrases in groups of 4 students. Our young composers chose (3) of their 2-measure rhythmic phrases to turn into short pentatonic melodies by creating a matrix and simply rolling dice. Also in this project, they learned about musical form, an essential element of music. Using their knowledge of musical form, they were able to transform these short little melodies into pretty complicated pieces of music (rondos) that for some groups were 2-3 minutes in length! Mrs. Snitchler said, "Overall, the collaborative work was simply outstanding this year. This year's group of 4th graders created several very interesting pieces that sound complex; they do not sound like a child composed them. Using "3+1, It Works!," most wrote instrumental pieces in ABA form as well as 5-part and 7-part rondos. I truly enjoyed mentoring them through this creative process." After they performed their pieces for their classmates on classroom instruments, they taught and programmed their newly created music into a robot named Dash!
Here's an interview with two of our 4th graders, Logan L. and Lucas F., where they explain about the musical form they chose for their project and describe their creative process,
