Jessica Poyer joined NCSD as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction in January 2021. Jess has two decades of experience in education.
Jess is a second-career educator. She gained her inclusive childhood education certification at Nazareth College in Rochester through her Master’s Degree. Jessica describes her first career as a Broadcast Journalist in a lab classroom, where she learned something new every day while reporting stories, anchoring, and producing.
Recently, Jessica completed her dissertation as part of her doctoral work at the University of the Cumberlands.
Leading is a privilege, and Jess has the opportunity to work with leaders and teachers daily to strengthen systems that support student achievement and social-emotional well-being.
Jessica is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Norwich community's teachers, staff, students, and caregivers. Having been born, raised, and educated in a small town, serving a rural community is where her passion lies.
